Preparing For IELTS
International English Language Testing System (IELTS) is an international standardized test aiming to measure fluency in the English language.
A considerable number of American, Australian, British, Canadian, Irish, New Zealand and South African academic institutions as well as professional organizations accept IELTS.
IELTS is available in two versions: the academic version and the general training version.
The academic version is meant for those people who want to get a high education in an institute or university and for professionals who want to study or work in an English-speaking country. Those who plan to immigrate or want to undertake non-academic training or gain work experience should consider the general training version.
IELTS covers writing, listening and reading. The total test duration is about two hours and 45 minutes for listening, speaking, reading and writing modules. Reading takes 60 minutes and covers three sections with 40 questions. Writing takes 60 minutes and includes two pieces of writing. Listening last for 30 minutes and covers four sections with 40 questions. A recording is played and an additional 10 minutes are given to write down answers onto the OMR answer sheet.
