David Beckham New Face Of Sharpie Markers

David Beckham New Face Of Sharpie MarkersDavid Beckham has signed a contract with the US Newell Rubbermade company to be the new ambassador of its Sharpie Permanent Markers. The campaign will premiere in the US this month and will be featured in North America, Latin America, Europe and Asia Pacific in May.

According to Celebrity Brands, Sharpie has already had golfers Arnold Palmer and Gary Player advertise the company’s earlier products. It also quotes Beckham sharing his excitement of working for Sharpie.

“I have always enjoyed signing autographs for people, especially since I used to love getting my heroes’ signatures when I was younger,” Beckham said. “I love to use Sharpie markers, so it’s a natural choice for me to partner with them.”

Hollyscoop quotes Howard Heckes, the president of Sharpie, commenting on the company’s collaboration with the soccer star.

“Like the Sharpie brand, David embodies individuality and creative expression. He is the rare athlete who transcends nationality and sport to command worldwide attention, making him the perfect ambassador for Sharpie marker users who are as passionate about the bold mark of a Sharpie as they are about the colors, variety and almost limitless uses of the product.”

It is reported that all details of the Sharpie-Beckham campaign, which will include print and online advertising, will be available in May.
