Teach For America Gets Popularity
Teach for America program, a program that recruits college graduates to teach in American public schools, has experienced a tremendous growth and will place more than 3,700 new teachers this year. According to the figures released, more than 24,000 seniors applied for the program this year.
Teach for America is a nonprofit program, which was founded in 1990. The program has a profession staff that visits campuses and meets with students.
The New York Times reports that the campuses with the largest number of recruits this year have been large and prestigious public universities.
It was the No. 1 employer on many campuses, including at Duke, Emory, George Washington, Georgetown, New York University, and Spelman, Ms. Rabinowitz said. The campuses with the largest number of recruits, however, were large, prestigious public universities.
According to Motywacja, last year the number of applicants for the program was 2,900, which represents an increase of 30 percent compared with the number of this year’s applicants.
The program that recruits top college graduates to teach for two years in public schools that are difficult to staff will place 3,700 new teachers this fall, up from 2,900 last year.
The program is planned to replace teachers in 29 different locations this fall.
