As a school counselor I ofter refer my students to the online high schools in our communities for various reasons; traditional schooling doesn't work for themor if they want to take additional courses. One downfall is the level of intelligence needed to master this type of learning. It is not for everyone. One other area I caution students that want to use this as a full time route to education, is the lack of personal/social aspects. The face to face interaction is lost whether it's with teachers or fellow students, and I think this is such an important and vital piece for our youth. ONline education offers fabulous opportunities, but I definately feel caution needs to be taken.
