Those Darned Holidays Interrupt My Personal Literacy Development
I spend a great deal of time in school libraries. This is part of my personal literacy development program. The computer department at Sonoma State University (SSU), located in Rohnert Park, California is one of three of my usual haunts. The Santa Rosa Junior Colleges (SRJC’s), which are located in the Cities of Santa Rosa and Petaluma, California being the other two. They continue to provide desperately needed resources for this aspiring blogger.
When the blessed holidays arrive, it spells an unwelcome interruption for the struggling single guy trying unsuccessfully to make ends meet as an itinerant blogger. The school libraries that I depend on for my computer access close for the holidays and beyond.
SSU closed from December 24 until January 2 while the SRJC’s close from December 24 until January 15, with a bonus courtesy of the Reverend Martin Luther King on the 16th.
My personal literacy development program is ground to a near halt by these closures, albeit temporary of the aforementioned school libraries.
Thank heavens for the wonderful entertainment provided by John Sugden’s rousing book, Nelson: A Dream of Glory, which I found in an abandoned box of books on the streets of San Francisco and rescued from its discarded fate. Recounted in it is how our hero rose to success by numerous small victories. Hence, I may therefore maintain every hope and expectation that by virtue of my modestly successful blog posts, that I too may someday arise to prominence in the field of blogging, whatever the heck that that is. I just need to watch out for those squirrelly French sharpshooters.
