Teenage Books: Educational Promoters
Teenage books enjoy great popularity nowadays and they are great educational promoters. There are several books that I am sure would satisfy the taste of any teen.
“Pimpernelles: The Pale Assassin” by Patricia Elliot is an 18th century historical romance meant especially for teens under 11 years old. The main heroine, Eugenie de Boncouer, is a typical teenager totally involved in Parisian fashion and romance. However, life teaches her tough lessons thus changing her life. It is a story about love and loyalty, devotion and affection. Patricia Elliot shows her teen readers that be it the middle ages or modern times, moral values remain unchangeable.
The winner of the 2008 National Book Award in America, “What I Saw and How I Lied,” is another teen book written by Judy Blundell. Events are taking place during World War II. Evie, a 15-year-old girl, is tired of being treated as a child. After her stepfather achieve’s success in business Evie’s family decides to move to another place. Her life undergoes some changes when she falls in love with her stepfather’s comrade. She enters an entirely new world full of adults. “What I Saw and How I Lied” is a story about first love and first disillusionment.
“If I Stay” by Gayle Forman is among one of the most interesting and dramatic teenage books worth reading. The title itself is rather philosophical. Mia, the story’s protagonist, has everything that a girl could dream of: a happy family, loving boyfriend, nice school. But as a rule happiness cannot last long. It so happens that a tragedy occurs to the heroine and her family dies. Can she handle this obstacle on her way and go on living? The book teaches teens to learn to appreciate every moment in life.
