Education Programs For Autistic Children
Autism neural development disability affecting 1% of the US children aged from 3 to 17, according to the statistics by Autism Society.
Children diagnosed with autism have difficulties in communication, development and learning in general, thus they need a special education.
There are three types of special autism education programs:
- The first program, sensory integration therapy, does everything to manage a child’s sensory response. Due to the effectiveness of this program many children become less anxious and more attentive. They can focus their attention on the things much better than before.
- Occupational therapy involves developing the skills which help autistic children in managing their life independently. It helps to understand, realize and properly respond to received information. Moreover, this program includes developing some skills such as typing, writing, playing and communicating.
- Applied behavioral analysis is a very effective therapy that has some specific methods in education. It develops social and behavioral skills by giving rewards to children. Undoubtedly this method works well. If a child refuses to study a therapist can use this method.
Sometimes it’s important to repeat one and the same word combinations a few times as autistic children face difficulty in understanding. However, these children still can develop speech, communicative, writing and behavioral skills, they just need a special approach.
There are also special preschools for these children. Yet there is not any standard autism education as each child needs an individual approach. Well educated and trained professionals are there to help every single child.
