How To Make Yourself Study
One of my friends always said that nice weather is the enemy of studying. How can you sit in front of books, take notes or study all exam materials, when the sun is shining outside and there are so many things you could be doing instead?
If this problem is very similar to the one you have now, here are a few things that can help you out.
- Do you like chocolate? You’d better, because chocolate is what you need for studying. It releases neurotransmitters (endorphin, serotonin and so on) that affect the brain and reduce stress, depression and anxiety. In other words, chocolate makes you happy. This is why you need chocolate before getting started. You must be in a good mood and ready to work efficiently.
- Organize your work. Don’t keep your books and papers in a messy pile. Divide the test or exam materials according to the topics, and after finishing each topic reward yourself. For instance, promise yourself to get a new pair of earrings or sunglasses, if you finish the first three topics. The reward can be anything you like and should be something you look forward to.
- I’d recommend you not to get together with your best friends to prepare for a test or an exam. This usually ends up in doing and talking about completely different things, which are more fun than studying. After a couple of hours, you’ll realize that the valuable time is passing, but you haven’t really done anything yet. However, if you decide to get together with your friends, make sure you don’t stray from the main reason why you have gathered.
- And finally, the most important thing is to keep yourself motivated. Think about your future, when you’ll be one of the best specialists and people will be begging you to work for them. The first step to get there is to start studying hard now.
