Promote Interaction In The Classroom
Do you know what is interaction? If not, read this education blog article.
The technique that makes learners communicate with one another is called interaction. It comprises the nature of classroom pedagogy and classroom behavior.
Interaction should provide a socio-emotional classroom atmosphere. So, a good teacher should promote good conditions for learning activities, that is a good atmosphere for communication. But saying communication we don’t only mean speaking but also reading, writing and listening. For instance, students first listen to the text and then have a whole class discussion.
Pair or group work is one of the main factors to promote interaction. The aim of interaction is a little bit non traditional: it puts the student in the center. That is, teacher initiates, learner responds and teacher evaluates.
Here’s some tips that will promote interaction:
Teachers must start with motivation. The first step will be to teach the students how to form pairs or groups in a rather short time. The pairs can be formed by zodiac sign, birthday, shoe size, favorite color and so on.
The next step is, of course, to run the activity. It should be presented in a very enthusiastic and confident way and must be explained clearly. The teacher should not forget to praise her students and tolerate harmless errors. She must make the activity very entertaining so that the students are engaged in a supportive atmosphere.
